Police Commissioner Achong Leaves Akwa Ibom State

Sequel to news making rounds that the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom had petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Inspector General of Police to immediately redeploy the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Austin Okojie, and the State Commissioner of Police, Gabriel Achong, from the state, we have it on good standing that a new officer has been redeployed to supervise the April 11th 2015 gubernatorial elections in Akwa Ibom State.

In addition to the deployment of six Deputy Inspector-General of Police to coordinate Police activities in the six geo-political zones, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Suleiman Abba, CFR, NPOM, NPM, mni has deployed Assistant Inspectors-General of Police to supervise the April 11th 2015 gubernatorial elections in the following states listed against their names:

Following Commissioners of Police were also deployed for election duties to states indicated as follows;

1. Anambra State – CP Sam Okaula

2. Ekiti State – CP E. J.  Ibine

3. Enugu State – CP Adamu Mohammed

4. Osun State – CP Valentine Ntomchukwu

Also, the IGP has deployed a Commissioner of Police to command each of the Senatorial Zones of the following States; Gombe, Bauchi, Imo, Akwa Ibom, Lagos, Benue, Edo, Plateau and Sokoto.

For Rivers State, the following Special Units of the Nigeria Police Force have been deployed to address security concerns. These are; 32 Units of Police Mobile Force (PMF), 4 Units of Counter terrorism Units (CTU), 4 Units of Special Protection Units (SPU) and 6 Crack Teams of Detectives from Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) and complements of Intelligence officers- culled from wetinhappen
